Bareboat story from 04 Jul 2010

Yet another outstanding Cumberland Yacht Charter holiday! This time we chose Cumberland Princess, and true to her name, we lived like royalty for the week.
Day 1. With 4 couples on board, 3 of which are all repeat CCY "fans", we headed off from Airlie for Cid Harbour, choosing the protection of Whitsunday Is. from the SE winds, which proved perfect. A spot of fishing, off the side of the boat, proved fruitful for the boys and our fresh catch tasted magnificent cooked straight from water to the back deck BBQ.
Day 2 saw us head up & around the top of Hayman and nestle in the beautiful surrounds of Butterfly Bay. The snorkelling was superb and the reef & fish life spectacular.
Day 3 was an absolute highlight with the sighting of a mother whale & her calf NE of Whitsunday Is. on route to Whitehaven Beach. We weren't quite in reach of her spray, but her display had us in awe of these magical creatures of the deep.
Day 4 was also spent at Whitehaven, with an early morning walk along a desolate beach, watching a stunning sunrise. The serenity and spectacular backdrop a vast & welcomed change from City life! Also, feeding a beautiful school of Batfish our left over tomatoes off the back deck BBQ rated another amazing experience.
Day 5 saw a visit to Chalkies Beach for the MOST amazing snorkelling encountered to date. We thought we did pretty well in managing to anchor securely after only 2 shots given the steep reef decent. The snorkelling however was worth every bit of the anxiety of managing to anchor!! Needless to say, we opted for the more secure confines of Nara Inlet for our overnight stay.
Day 6 tended more a "land-loving" day. With a morning walk to the Aboriginal caves of Nara Inlet, followed by the amazing views of the walk from Sawmill Beach to Dugong Inlet. Truly invigorating!
Day 7 had us back at Hamilton Is. to experience “habitation” once again...and the end of our truly magical Island break. Thank you CCY and we’ll see you again!
